Old wood is worth saving when someone takes the time. We strip failed coatings back to sound material, consolidate or replace what has gone soft, sand through the grits instead of stopping at the first one, and rebuild the finish in thin coats that soak in and cure. Front doors, exposed beams, cedar shingles and detail trim all come back closer to original than any thick repaint would get them.
